D.J's Market is named in memory of my Mother Dawn Jackson who died in October 2012 from a Melanoma related Cancer
Mum was far more than just a Mother to me. She was my very best friend. We had an incredibly strong bond and to say I am lost without her would be a mere understatement.. However I know she would want me to carry on and be the very best I can be. So I dedicate this market in loving memory of her.
Mum use to belong to a over 50's group called ARPA (Australian Retired Persons Association) and she spent many years as their secretary, Event Planner etc. You name it she did it. She was very affectionately referred to by many as D.J. In fact this is how she signed off all her newsletters to the group "Cheers D.J"
She loved to organise their outings and she would plan her itinerary to the very last detail. She worked out morning and arvo tea stops at interesting places for their bus trips and she was loved and admired by many.
This interest in ARPA was something that was some what of a savior to her when my dad passed away in 1997. She was such a kind, warm loving person and everyone loved having her around. She adored her family and was a great believer in treating others as you want to be treated.
She loved a social get together and loved to see people having fun.
So Mum This Market is named D.J after you! I hope some how you can look down and be proud
*Special thanks goes to David President at Oakgrove Community Centre for working with me on this and Mary of Oakgrove and for the support of Bec at the City Of Casey Council.
